This is a video project I am working on in my spare time. I am making a haunted house in 3D, similar to the animated movies you see from Pixar and Disney. I plan to make the video as regular DVD version. For those of us with 3DTV's I am also making it in Side by Side stereoscopic 3D.

The goal of this video is as follows:
Create a virtual tour of a haunted house *similar in look* to animated movies like; Frozen, Cars or Ice Age. Maybe less cartoony.
Shooting for a PG rating, however there will most likely be 'Frightening Scenes', Halloween Haunted House style stuff... so it could be 14a or 18a? (18a mentions horror.)
About 30 Minutes long is my goal for the video length, which is a decent amount to render in my home at 1080p. (at least a month)
The final video will be on a lightscribed DVD so you can play in a DVD player (and ISO/MP4 download for those of us gone diskless/virtual)
The DVD will have both regular DVD video and a side by side stereoscopic 3D version for those of us with 3DTV's
I'm hoping to have 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound too. Minimum being just stereo sound..
Parts are going to be on my demo reel. Thus helping me make a career of doing this for a living, not just a one shot deal.
The word donations is used loosely here, if you check out the rewards page you'll see it's more like a pre-order. Being a spare time project it's hard to have a set finish date.
It is not my goal to ask for handouts, I plan to work for my money, as I always do and have been this whole time. I've already punched almost 4 months (at the time of this writing) working on this project, without payment.
Here's my caveat, my landlord likes to get his rent and I like to pay him. I also like to eat and keep my utilities. If I'm working on this project instead of paying work, I can't pay bills. So my time gets divided into 2 categories, paid work and free work. One category gets priority over the other!
Therefore paid work wins and my time is limited on the house. If you would like to have a nice video to show for your home, halloween party, your bar or club.. even theater, help me out! Donate a bit (or alot, I won't complain, really, I love doing this) and help me get this project done for this October 2014!
The money is going towards booking days off work to get time in to finish the video for this October. Well, I do have to buy DVD's too, otherwise, I have everything I need to make this video, except time. I'm able to book a day off work for every $100 I receive. Hello there, let me introduce myself, I am Colin Glover, the sole creator and mastermind of this project. I have always loved technology and learning new things. You can contact me with the form at the bottom of the page if you like, there is no promise of a speedy reply or even a reply at all, but I welcome all comments.
I graduated a 3D Digital Animation course in 2004 and have kept busy with constant learning and honing my skills in many programs. These are being put to the test in this project, from start to finish.
My time line is as follows:
Modeling: Jan-Feb
Texturing: Mar-Apr
Rendering/Tweaking: May-June
Sounds/Final DVD: July-Aug
Done: Sept-Oct
I am using mostly, if not all open source programs to do this; Blender, Gimp, Audacity, LMMS, SliTaz Linux and posssibly others.
I am considering releasing all the documents and files as GPL as well, if I reach my funding goals.
I'll add that I built my own render farm to aide in the estimated 3 week plus (24/7) rendering extravaganza. I have a small, dedicated group of computers running a lightweight linux booted from PXE to do nothing but render.
